What is the best type of make-up brush?

It's about that time to get a new set so....I'm wondering what ya'lls opinion is on what brand that you have used or heard that is good to use. Also...is a foundation brush better to use rather than a sponge? What is the best type of make-up brush?
If you want to go all out - Trish McEvoy makes some of the best brushes around. I usually buy MAC because they suit my wallet better, and are very good! The great thing about a fantastic brush is that you can make them last for years and years with proper care. Well worth the money down the road.

A foundation brush will give a different look with your foundation. I use a liquid foundation from MAC with my brush and it has more coverage than applying with my bare hands. Plus, it is better for my face - a clean brush, versus the bacteria from my hands.

I like those little triangle sponges to even out when I apply a sheer tinted moisturizer. You can wash them out, and use then another time. What is the best type of make-up brush?
Sponge absorbs too much of the foundation and makes spreading over a surface too streaky and complicated. A kabuki brush is best.

You should try any squirrel-hair or sable brushes for even application. Synthetic brush-hairs don't pick up the material very well and slides right off.

Like power tools for carpenters, you need to use the right tools for the right application: shadow brushes for eye shadow applying, lip brush for lips, fine-tipped eye-liner brush for cake eyeliner, etc. These are specifically designed to get into those small regions whereas a standard sponge applicator will only spread all over the place with no definition.

I highly recommend these, as they are affordable and do the same job as MAC brushes or any of the $80.00 brushe sets: http://www.colorstrokes.com/
first of all, know that most of your brushes will likely be animal hair. the only synthetic brushes you need are concealer and foundation. as far as foundation application goes, brushes waste less product, but usually leave a heavier coverage. if you want a light, natural coverage, stick with a sponge. if you want full coverage, apply with a brush and blend around jaw and hairline with a sponge.

next, there are a few brushes every woman should have: concealer, powder, blush, flat shadow, and eye crease/contour. these are essential to a basic face, and some can double usage.

if price is an issue, try palladio brushes from sally beauty supply. they are $7-17 each, and last forever. i have a flat shadow brush from this line that has never lost a bristle.

for a starter set, check out mac. they have their mini brushes in sets for the holidays, so you get 4-5 for $30-35. mark by avon also has a mini set they sell all year long that is $19 for concealer, lip, eyeliner, shadow, and blush. and merle norman stores have full-size sets out of 5 of their most popular brushes and a brush cleaner for $29.

stila at sephora has nice brushes. some of them are dual-ended, so you get more for your money. they have a nice eye duo brush for $30, with a dense contour and smudger.
My absolute necessity is a kabuki brush---I can apply almost all other types of makeup without a brush, but when it comes to blush or powder, a kabuki brush is essential. Laura Mercier has great brush sets.
make sure you buy a big brush it helps spread and makes everything look even
Mac brushes are really good. They're not cheap but you don't need to have all of them so sticking to the basics and what you really need would be best. Their brushes are unbelievably soft. and if you take care of it, it'll last forever.

Foundation brush is better than using sponges. specially if you;re using liquid foundation only because sponges tend to absorb the product more. so there's more foundation in your sponge than your face.

If you;re looking for some affordable good brushes... i'd say get the set at costco the kirkland ones. this would help you get familiar with different brush types. the brush hair is soft , ( ive tried a target brand and their brushes have an OUCHY feel to them) and once you figured out the uses and what brushes you need, go ahead and invest on the high end ones like MACs.
go with mac
it all depends on what kind of makeup you wear. I personally like the mineral make up if you also use this kind then yes get a foundation brush I use a handy buki from bare essentials

I really like bare escentuals brushes they are a bit on the expensive side but hold up really well and don't lose hairs out of them.

MAC has good quality brushes but are expensive.

If cost is an issue, Target has a line by Sonia Kashuk that are cheap and are good quality.
